The “armoire normande” is a classic among the French furniture pieces whose story has been forgotten over time and usage, despite still standing in many houses.

Originally prepared by the father since the daughter’s birth, it was the wardrobe designated to be placed in the bedroom after her wedding, containing the nuptials cloths.

Built using massive wood from a tree chopped at the woman’s birth and dried till her major age, the wardrobe was richly decorated with the symbols showing her father’s heritage, wealth and profession.

Bureau Idéal’s version of the armoire normande is light, thanks to the aluminium structure, foldable and easy to move around.

It contains the possibilities of a future to come and a past that follows but doesn’t have to define us.
